At International Students Rotterdam our mission is to be the go-to place for international students to spice up their social life and to make their leap into the corporate world; meet new people via our social events, ranging from pub crawls and beer pong tournaments, to city trips and beach volleyball. Or pursue your curiosity towards the corporate life by attending our corporate events such as a day in the life of, Q&As and our International Business Fair (IBF) to land that dream internship or job at companies like Amazon and Google.
As board officer, you will play a key role in one of the largest international students organizations in Rotterdam. You will ensure the survival and growth of ISR with a team of 5 other board members, 30+ committee members and 200+ passive members. You will develop yourself professionally and personally, participate in incredible events, build up a great network and most importantly help your fellow international students live their best student life in Rotterdam.

All board officer positions require 10-15 hours per week, depending on the time of the year. The president role takes 13-15 hours per week all year round.
Job Description (Tasks and Responsibilities)
As president you are the face of ISR and you oversee the entire organisation. You steer the association towards its strategic goals and help realise ISR’s mission. You ensure the overall success and growth of the association and you assist and guide the other board members to thrive in their roles. Additionally you lead the weekly board meetings, you set concrete goals for every committee, you have monthly 1-on-1 catch-up meetings with the respective board officers and you create an environment of trust and cooperation within the board. Moreover, you decide on the budgets for every committee and keep track of the income and expenses. Lastly, you continuously strive to realise ISR’s mission to be the go-to-place for international students in Rotterdam.

As the president, you are ambitious, motivated and inspiring. Additionally, as you lead the board, team-player and leadership skills are a must. You also need to keep an eye on the bigger picture and have an affinity for strategy. Furthermore, you should be able to think analytically and make executive decisions. Job Description (Tasks and Responsibilities)
For this year, we decided to incorporate the tasks of HR into the role of Vice-President. As VP, you and the President share the responsibility of making sure ISR as a whole runs smoothly. This includes over-seeing the progress of each committee, working alongside the EMA (Erasmus multicultural) associations and advising and leading your board officers with the best of your ability. Furthermore, you are in charge of the HR committee. Under your supervision, your committee organises internal events, workshops and monthly catch-up meetings for all the hard working active members. You are also responsible for tracking and monitoring the goals of all of ISR’s committees. Last but not least, you are in charge of handling the upcoming active members recruitment, onboarding and next years board recruitment.

As Vice-President and being head of the HR committee, you need to have good time management and possess great organisational skills. Furthermore, you should be able to streamline clear external and internal communication, work with people and be able to delegate tasks. Job Description (Tasks and Responsibilities)
As a Social Events Officer you will get the opportunity to organise any kind of event and create unforgettable moments for students in Rotterdam. You oversee your committee in the creation, planning and execution of the social events. These events are there to spice up the students’ social lives, to create cross-cultural friendships and long-lasting memories, and to introduce the students to new things. Additionally, together with your committee, you will also be in charge of hosting a gala, our valentine day event and our city trips.
What do we seek in you? (profile, skills, requirements)
As Social Events Officer, you need to be sociable (as the name implies), proactive and creative and have good organisational skills. You need to feel comfortable to delegate tasks and ensure your committee stays on track for every event. Furthermore, you should be a team-player, push for your committee’s creativity and make a plan of how you will spend your budget. As Marketing Officer you are the main ambassador of ISR as you promote the entire organisation to people in the university environment. You define the brand of ISR and spread the word about membership perks and events. Therefore, your most trusted tools and instruments will be ISR’s social media platforms and marketing accounts. Additionally, you lead the Marketing Committee, you set concrete goals for your committee and members, you have a monthly 1-on-1 catch-up meeting with the Presidency, and you make sure ISR is portrayed in a relaxed but professional manner. The outside image of ISR is in your hands, and you call the executive shots about promotions and all online content. In a way, Marketing is arguably one of the most important positions on a Board, as there would be no association without it due to a lack of members. You will thus also be consulted for more strategic decisions concerning ISR.
What do we seek in you? (profile, skills, requirements)
As the Marketing Officer, you are proactive, creative and organised. We are looking for a person that is motivated to improve their skills and can think outside the box. Don’t worry if your Marketing skills are not extensive yet, you are able to learn everything on the job. Additionally, as you lead the Marketing Committee, team-player and leadership skills are a must. You also need to keep an eye on the whole image of ISR and have an affinity for Marketing strategy, since it will be up to you to shape it. Furthermore, you should be able to come up with creative solutions and be willing to constantly learn new things about the tools you work with and how to improve your own efficiency. Lastly, you will be working with design applications like Canva, manage the ISR social media accounts, handle the integration of events, and maintain the website (WordPress). Thus, some experience in these fields is of advantage, but a really motivated individual can learn anything. For the upcoming year, the Corporate Events and Partnerships officers will merge into one position: the External Relations officer. As External Relations officer you will be the head of a committee which focuses on organising the corporate events for students and securing partnerships with companies for ISR. You oversee and coordinate tasks like contacting companies, planning events and pitching, negotiating and contracting with companies. The External Relations committee on the one hand has the goal to help international students grow academically and professionally. On the other hand, it also strives to be a source of income for ISR, to create value for the companies we work with and to secure discounts for our students. Lastly, you are in charge of creating the acquisition strategy and analysing ISR’s value proposition.

Being an External Relations Officer requires diligent time management and organisational skills as you oversee two different activities. Furthermore, being a head of a team requires leadership skills, vast external and internal communication skills and also being able to delegate tasks. Additionally, you are a confident negotiator and you can pitch and present on yourself on behalf of ISR to external companies. Lastly, this role requires analytical and strategic long-term thinking. Job Description (Tasks and Responsibilities)
The International Business Fair officer leads a team to organise the flagship corporate event of ISR: the International Business Fair (IBF). The IBF is a week-long event in which companies participate and introduce themselves to get students familiar with various career opportunities, the company’s culture, and the day-to-day operations within that company. As the IBF officer, you oversee the planning, organisation and execution of the fair. You lay out a timeline and coordinate the tasks in your committee such as marketing, logistics, company acquisition and partnerships with other associations, to make IBF a success. Overall, you ensure IBF’s mission to provide students the opportunity to find their passion in business and to network with various company representatives!

What do we seek in you? (profile, skills, requirements)
As IBF Officer you need to be able to plan ahead and keep overview of your progress and final destination. You need to delegate tasks to your committee and coordinate with all parties involved. Furthermore it essential to have great time management skills, communication skills and a good portion of confidence. In order to secure companies for the fair, you need to be able to present, pitch and negotiate. Lastly, you need to be creative as every year IBF is different and you can give it any twist you want.
